Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Data Center Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and growth of our owned and acquired data centers. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring uptime, performance, and physical security of our compute environments across multiple sites. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in data center operations, hardware support, and systems monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, install, and maintain servers, network hardware, and related infrastructure in our data centers.
- Perform routine audits of systems, racks, cabling, power distribution, and cooling equipment.
- Support racking and stacking of new hardware, cable management, and labeling.
- Monitor system health and respond to alerts related to power, cooling, and server availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network failures in collaboration with remote teams.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment deliveries, repairs, and upgrades.
- Maintain detailed logs and asset inventories across all locations.
- Ensure compliance with physical security protocols and environmental standards.
- Support special infrastructure projects, migrations, and build-outs as the fund scales.
- Travel occasionally to remote sites for hands-on work as needed.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a data center, colocation, or infrastructure operations role.
- Proficient with server hardware (e.g., Dell, Supermicro, HPE), cabling standards, and racking procedures.
- Comfortable working with Linux-based systems and remote management tools (IPMI, iDRAC, etc.).
- Familiar with networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching, patching).
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
